Duit Raya
More over, they will start making faces especially when the amount is little & not what they expected to receive! Aiyoh!!!
We give duit raya because we want to give it..Thus, the amount is not significant & unimportant. The act of giving is more noble than the amount itself.. Beside it is hari raya...
But these kind of parents & kids just do not see that moral & reason behind it. Money is more important than the spirit of Hari Raya...
I blame the parents for showing this bad example to their kids .. Because kids copycat whatever words & body language that they seen from their parents...

My soon to be 6 years old girl
I left my 22 months old finger toothbrush at my parents' house . This happened when we went balik kampung yesterday. So I had to shop for a new finger toothbrush at lunch time today.
While looking for it at Isetan, my eldest girl called me. Asked me what was i doing. Thus I told her i was shopping for Aisyah's toothbrush as I have left the existing one at her wan's house.
Next she asked me what if it happens again .Meaning what if the same thing happens again with the new toothbrush. I said that it wont happened again. But again she said " But Mama, what if you forgot again ".
Now she got me all cornered up! Not able to think what is the best answer plus that i was in a hurry, I simply said " Then, I will have to buy another one "
It wasn't the best answer to a kid. As she will start to think that for everything that is left behind can be easily replaced... I hate being in that position.Wished hubby was there to help me...

Enopi
Why Enopi & not Kumon? Simply because me & hubby believe that the critical thinking maths classes will be an advantage to her thinking process and benefit her in the future.

Moonjar piggybank
So today, i googled about Moonjar . This happened after one of my FB's friends posted in her status asking all her friends on how to teach her son the value of money. And one of her friends suggested Moonjar.
Googled & read it. And I think it'a a doable approach that we can teach our kids. Basically Moonjar teaches our kids the 3 concept of money by saving, spending & sharing. They are using 3 colored box/piggybank to keep this money. I have googled it and found this. Sorry I am just cut& paste it here ( i linked it to their blogsite)... happy reading parents!
MOONJAR
For more than eight years, Moonjar (www.moonjar.com), the leading international provider of children’s financial literacy tools, has helped children and families learn the three basic principles of money management: saving, spending and sharing, through a line of creative products aimed at helping parents and children take the first steps towards a healthy financial future. We must not forget that our as role educators, business leaders, and parents is to provide students with the best of both worlds: a strong and challenging academic curriculum, and a full infusion of the 21st-century skills students will need to succeed.
Starting a conversation about money with kids can be tricky. We have developed six tips for parents to teach their kids to save, spend and share their allowances—even at a young age.
1. Start with a visual tool. Most children, beginning at age 4 or 5, are visual learners, so using a hands-on tool like the Moonjar Moneybox, a bank with three compartments—one each for saving, spending and sharing, can better help them learn responsible money management through critical problem solving.
2. Make money a “yes” conversation. Use pictures to help your kids visualize their goals and then prioritize what they are saving for, what they want to spend their money on, and with whom or with what they want to share their money.
3. Discuss wants vs. needs. As you set goals, identifying objects that represent “wants” and “needs” helps to overcome the desire for instant gratification.
4. Allow mistakes. Children, like adults, learn from making mistakes. From time to time, allow your child to buy a toy you believe will not be enjoyed very long, for example. Sure, they may be disappointed in a few weeks, but many lessons can be learned from this experience. Encourage them, without guilt, to plan their future purchases, weigh the cost and the benefit of their choices and to think twice next time, even sleep on it.
5. Encourage philanthropy. Help your children understand that they are part of a larger world community through discussions about sharing their money and/or donating time to causes of their choosing. Volunteering as a family is a great activity for all to participate, learn and grow.
6. Be a good role model. Make sure your children see you doing the things that you are teaching them. Let them in on your bill paying, savings and investment plans and charitable giving. Discuss your attitudes and philosophies about money and tell them your dreams for how your money can fuel your passions.

Obese Children :Parents' faults
Just ask ourselves and observe our own family members & relatives & neighbours too. One can easily see how some of us parents just feed our innocent & naive children with junk food. Not only junk food but also too much of processed food. How many of us make it a point to feed them home cooked food that is is also nutritious & delicious?
If parents control their children's junk food intake, none of those kids will be obese . Sometimes I wonder , do these parents ever think what will happened to their obese kids in terms of health, peoples' perceptions on these innocent children? We do know how children likes to tease & bully & look down on fat children. I myself do not want my children to go such a sad childhood especially those school years.
I guess if one day these obese kids blame their parents for making them obese, the parents should accept it without pointing fingers to other than themselves. After all, it is those parents that brought them up into this world in the 1st place.

Orphans of the Japan Tsunami
Everyone who read this article will only be feeling sad for those children at Kama Elementary School in Japan. Even I can't imagine what is going inside those children's minds. And to think of how to break the death news of their parents is so unthinkable and hardest thing to do. I can only think of if what this were to happen to my own flesh & blood.
I do hope these children have relatives that they can turned to. Can't imagine if they have none.
Sometimes, when things like this happened, I really would like to know how these children will grow up to be .But then , no one I think will trace back at these children and do some documentary on how the tsunami have shaped their minds & lives in the years to come.

Sisterly Love
Of course Arissa loves her small baby sister wholeheartedly.I remember how Arissa always wanted to help change her baby sister's dirty diapers. And how Arissa always wanted to feed her baby sister solid food during each feeding time.
But there are times also when both fight for dearest mama attention. And when this happens, dearest mama will have her hands full of both of them. Arissa would be sitting at oneside of my lap while the Aisyah too would be eyeing for another lap to sit. And if Arissa is talking, then Aisyah too would be talking in her own baby languages. Of course moments like this is rather handful too me. But these are precious moments that are not worth it to be nag as moments like this wont last forever. Thus dearest mama will try her best to handle those two A's.
When I looked and judged back on those things mentioned earlier, I must say that His plan for me and my hubby was the best plan planned. There are 4 years gap between Arissa and Aisyah. Most people would say that it's a big gap . But when i analysed it back, the year gap is just nice.
The 4 years gap enable Arissa to show to her baby sister what big sister is all about. As Arissa is at an age where she can understand some logic behind certain stuff , she is able to appreciate her baby sister existance . This is based and done in her own way . Should the gap be less than 4 years, I wouldn't think Arissa would be able to appreciate her baby sister existance . Let alone to express her love for her baby sister.
Which is why i honestly believe there's a reason why Aisyah was born 4 years after Arissa. Sometimes, we made a plan that we think is the best planned plan. But little did we realised that there are reasonable hidden reasons why our plan did not happened our way. I did look back and analised the gap/ But it all make sense now when I see the love display between Arissa and Aisyah. Suddenly the 4 years gap made sensible reasons that is easy to understand.

Birthday party
i was just browsing through some kid's birthday party pictures. Of course one will get ooh & aah all over the pretty settings and all the lovely goody bags and delicious food too. I wonder how much does it cost to have kids birthday party when the goody bags is filled with toys, pretty hair clips, etc. And thesedays it's a must to hire a face/hand painter and cute cupcakes too.
But one thing that hit my mind after a while of browsing through those pictures. Would any parents be throwing the same level of birthday party for all his/hers children? I mean lets say you have more than 2 kids . So would u be spending the same huge amount of money for each of your kids birthday party?
Somehow, I don't think they would. Which is why some of us parents outthere have decided only to have one or the very most 2 kids. Not 3 or 4 kids. All in the matter of wanting the best and only the best for their children.
No one is blaming these parents for spending so selfishly for their kids. It's their money anyway. But what i;m curious to know is did they ( those parents la) at any point of time feel pressured to keep up to their friend's standard.
With that I mean, imagine one friend of yours started to throw big & expensive birthday party for their kids. Soon all the other mothers ( normally it's the mother who gets all excited about parties) started to throw the same level/status of a kid's birthday party.
hemmm... all i can say is that those kids are lucky. Actually any kids who get to celebrate his/her birthday is lucky regardless if the party is only kenduri doa selamat , or even a small party with only a cake and celebrate with mom & dad only.
Because at the end of the day, it is the thoughts and actions that matters. Even a small muffin with one candle can make a 3 year old girl smiled so big ...ahah!

Parenting Progress
- Offer your child healthy foods. Keep lots of fruits, vegetables, and healthy snacks in the house. Me & her Baba have been feeding her with healthy food since birth. From breastmilk to homemade pureed food, delayed exposure to MSG & junk food & fastfood. We also monitor & cut down & limit her intake on chocolate, ice-cream, sweets and all the processed food. We explain to her the good & bad side of having too much of these food.
2.Make time for your child to be active. Limit TV viewing to no more than 1 or 2 hours a day. Arissa is only exposed to TV some 2 years back.. We have been blessed by having a maid that doesn't switch on the TV when me & hubby are working. But she is used to listening to the radio. And so far, all of the maids that we had & have like to play and talk with kids. But thesedays, Arissa gets to watch the telly while my MIL reads the Quran (while waiting for maghrib prayers). It's hard for my MIL to control with tv show Arissa can watch. Thus, we always explain to her why certain tv shows are not good for kids viewing.
3 . Read and talk to your child. This helps children learn language and opens them up to new ideas. Both of us have been talking to her since she was 1 day old. And even the previous maids too likes to to talk to her since she was 1 day old. Imagine hearing her saying " A slip of the tongue" !
4 . Help your child get enough rest. Between the ages of 2 and 5, children need about 11 to 13 hours of sleep each day. So far so good . In fact her bedtime since starting pre-school is 9.30 pm every nite..And nap during the day too for at least 1 hour. Some days are 2 or 3 hours.
5. Give your child a chance to meet and play with other children. Preschool or play groups can be a great way for children to learn to interact. Her 1st playgroup was at Gymboree when she was 2 years old. And this year at Musikhaus. And now at the current pre-school. So far, her interaction with other kids has been good.
6. Teach skills, such as how to get dressed or use the toilet. Watch for signs that your child is ready, and try to move ahead at his or her pace. We are doing these . In fact she is better than her cousins who still depend on maid for shower and eating and dressing.. But then again, can't blame the cousins as it's the parents' fault too who depend too much on the maids..
7. Set limits that help your child feel safe and secure but that also allow the child to explore. Mostly it's hubby who is more relax on these.Me on the other side is the type that worry too much .. So, I'm thankful that hubby is guiding her on these and me learning to from him..
Above is from WebMd . I was busy reading about newborn when all of a sudden it crossed my mind to look up for info on pre-schooler. I guess it's not easy being a parent to two kids . Meaning, we always need to update our parenting knowledge all for the kids benefits.

Cherish them when you are their favourite person
Or your child bugs you when you are busy watching the news? She just wanna show you how she draws a cat . Or she wanted to teach you how to pronouce the letter 'a', 'e', 'i' , 'o', 'u'.
Or your child ask you to sit down with her and watch tv when u were about to put the folded washed clothes inside the drawer.
Or when your are the most prefered person next to your hubby, to bathe her or to accompany her for brush-your-teeth-b4-bedtime .
Or when she wants to be seated next to you in the car . Doesn't matter if you are the driver or the passenger. All she knows that she want to be seated in either in front or back as long as same as you..
Or that she insists on holding your hands no matter if it's going to the park, walking in the mall or everywhere. She still want to hold you either by her right or left hand eventhough your hubby is holding her opposite hand.
Or she likes to sit on the same side of the table when eating out or at home. You will always be seated next to her.
Or she likes to cuddle up or sit next to you on the bed while watching tv. Not everytime you get to cuddle up with your hubby when watching tv together with your kid..
Or that she likes to comb your wet hair after you are done with shower.
Sometimes I do feel like I need a space on my own. But when I think back that all these small things will soon be gone once my daughter is grown up or when she is able to do things on her own or when I'm not her favourite person anymore, I just accept and do it with open heart.
Arissa will soon be 4 years old in August. And how time flies. No doubt she is slowly gaining her independence but in most cases in her 24 hours of life daily, she still needs me for this and that.
Of course she needs her Baba too.
But as a parent , we should all try to cherish all these small things now . These things will soon be missed by us parents. Just like how our parents miss it now. And maybe that is why to our parents' eyes, we are still their baby. Or why they still prefer you in the shoulder length hair style.... hehehehheeh

BPA-free
Of course it's easy to be ignorance about it as it's a choice for us to make. But somehow yesterday, I just had to do some research on it to satisfy my curiousity on what BPA is all about.
I did read from wikipedia . But I failed to understand it from that. The explanation on BPA was too high level for me..I need something written in a laymen terms.
Found it here from momslittleones's reading corner . There are two reading materials that focus on BPA which I found easy to understand. After done reading it, I just can't help not to feel so worried and trouble too by this BPA side effects especially for our unborn baby and baby too..
Hard for us to deny that BPA has been around us for 5o years. It is widely use in a making all consumer products ranging from children's toys, resusable drink container , all PVC made products, and very worrisome to parents is plastic baby bottles. Yikes!
And the negative side effects can be from breast cancer, impaired learning and memory, prostate disease & cancer, miscarriage, sperm defects, obesity , diabetics etc...
But among us, who is most at RISK? Our growing children. With that, I'm so busy planning on what to buy and get for my 2nd unborn baby. From the breastpumps, to the bottles, teats and storage milk bags, all will have to be BPA free. Of course these BPA-free products is expensive than the normal one , but we can always minimize the cost by making a good buying plans.
So currently there are so many things going inside my mind. Thank goodness that there are many BPA-free baby products outthere. But the bottom lines will be my baby's products preference. We all know that babies are not alike. What suits ones baby may not suits another baby. And I hate to be making fruitless and wasteless decisions once I make the purchases.. See how mind boggling this things is for expecting mommy like me!
Back to the research findings from the reading corner, they clearly stated brands that is BPA leaching in baby's bottles. Most of these wellknown brands has come up with it's own line of BPA-free baby products in the market thesedays.
But to see those wellknown brands definitely give a strong impact on the mindset of mothers outthere. This will effect the purchasing power that mothers have when buying baby products. Even I was affected by it!
Prior to reading those articles, I thought I could still use all the normal bottles , teats and milk bags. Why? Because the BPA leaching is due to simulated use—dishwashing, brushing, and boiling. And I thought I could simply follow the basic rules of changing bottles and teats ever 3 months. But then, the total cost of using these normal products is actually the same as buying the BPA-free products. And for the sake of our children future, I dare not to take risk.
One thing about being a parent is that we try so hard to give only the best for our children. No doubt that some of us are not financially strong . But that do not deter us from trying to give the best that we can do for our children. I've seen some parents who are just low paid workers. But their actions in being not stingy on food for the children is something that I salute them.. We all know that fish & seafood are expensives. But we can always get it cheap from the wet market expecially if u buy at the early wee hours in the morning.
Thus, BPA free or not, the choice is ours parents!
Oh yeah, do check it out ( the reading materials from momslittleones ) as they got tips on how to avoid this BPA things!

Mama Kitten & Baby Kitten

i like to move it move it..
Arissa: Hello Mama! I'm ok..
Mama: Hello Sayang! How do u know it's me?
Arissa : Mama, I have eat(eaten my ) rice..
Mama : That's good Sayang. Can u dance for me ' I like to move it move it" ?
Arissa : she went on to dance and sing to that tune...giggling
Mama: Smiling. Do u feel any pain at your back?
Arissa: No Mama. Mama, Where is your boss?
Mama: My Boss? gigling . She is here.Working. Why Sayang?
Arissa : I want to talk to her.
Mama: She is working Sayang.
Arissa : Ok.. I wanna go now.. Bye Mama..
Mama: Bye Arissa.
Above was what happened today. I called her from office. She had a fall yesterday nite before brushing her teeth. A fall that could have been prevented if I was more careful & alert with her.. I'm still so sedih and kesal with that incident. My hope and pray is that she will be ok.. Amin
Lately she likes to ask about my boss. For example she asked about my boss yesterday nite as we were walking down the staircase for dinner. She asked how was the boss. I told her that my boss was ok.. Reason to her question was beacause me and her Tuk Umi have told her that my boss will be angry with me if I am late for work...
Arissa, being her normal self, doesn't like me going to work . Thus she will try to delay me in the morning by asking me to take her for a short ride around the neighbourhood , wanna help me to stir my mug of choc milk, asking me to feed her breakfast and me to eat my breakfast. I normally take choc milk and no food as it's too early in the morning. My tummy just can't eat that much around 7 am . Thus I normally pack the breakfast to office.
So this thing about my boss is the lastest issues that she likes to ask from me..
Arissa :Mama boss will be angry if mama is late for work

Cerebral palsy
Definition:
Cerebral palsy (CP) is the name given to a collection of movement disorders. Movement disorders are conditions in which a person's muscles do not respond normally. CP is also known as static encephalopathy (pronounced in-seh-fuh-LAH-puh-thee). It is caused by brain damage that occurs before, during, or just after birth. A person with CP is often also affected by other conditions caused by brain damage.
Description:
If a person is affected by CP his or her muscles may become either rigid or very loose. Sometimes an individual may lose control of his or her muscles, resulting in problems with balance and coordination. The condition may affect the legs only, which is called paraplegia (pronounced par-uh-PLEE-jee-uh) or diplegia (pronounced die-PLEE-juh); the arm and leg on one side of the body, which is known as hemiplegia (pronounced hem-i-PLEE-juh); or all four limbs, called quadriplegia (pronounced kwod-ruh-PLEE-jee-uh).
Other problems experienced by someone with CP include visual or hearing problems, mental retardation (see mental retardation entry), learning disabilities (see learning disorders entry), and attention deficit disorder (ADD). Some CP patients experience no problems beyond their movement disorder.
CP affects about 500,000 children and adults in the United States. About 6,000 new cases are diagnosed in newborns and young children each year. CP is not a genetic disorder, and there is currently no way of predicting which children will develop it. CP is not a disease and is not communicable, which means it cannot be passed from one person to another.
CP is a nonprogressive disorder. That is, it does not become better or worse over time. However, some conditions may appear to become worse. For example, when muscles are rigid for a long period, arms and legs may become deformed. In such cases, additional treatments may be necessary.
Causes:
- is caused by damage to brain cells that control the movement of muscles. When those cells die, signals can no longer be sent to muscle cells. This loss of muscle control results in the symptoms of CP.
Factors can cause brain cell damage:
- lack of oxygen (asphyxia, pronounced az-FIK-see-uh),
- infection example: rubella ,toxoplasmosis (a blood infection), toxoplasmosis (a blood infection)
- trauma (shock),
- malnutrition (poor diet),
- drugs or other chemicals, or
- hemorrhage (bursting of blood vessels).
- In most cases, it is impossible to discover the exact cause for any one person's CP.
- Premature birth is regarded as one important and common factor.
Most researchers now believe that brain cell damage occurs before birth. This damage is also responsible for other conditions that tend to occur along with CP.
Symptoms : usually not noticeable at birth. Instead, they begin to show up during the first eighteen months of a child's life.
Normal children pass through a series of developmental stages. At each stage, they learn how to perform one or more common tasks. Infants with CP have difficulty performing these tasks. Such difficulties may indicate that an infant has CP.
The tasks considered to be milestones in normal development include the following:
- Babbles (6 to 8 months)
- Sits well with support (8 to 10 months)
- Crawls (9 to 12 months)
- Walks alone (12 to 15 months)
- Uses one or two words other than dada and mama (12 to 15 months)
- Eats with fingers; holds bottle (12 to 18 months)
- Turns pages in books; removes shoes and socks (24 to 30 months)
- Walks up and down steps (24 to 36 months)
Because children develop at different rates, using these milestones to diagnose cerebral palsy (or any other disorder) must be used with great caution. The fact that an otherwise healthy child does not reach one of these milestones at the suggested age is not necessarily a sign that the child has CP. He or she may just be developing at a slower rate. In addition, problems with vision or hearing may cause such delays.
Five forms of cerebral palsy are recognized. They are defined according to the kind of muscle damage and the location of that damage:
- Spastic: Muscles are rigid (tight), posture may be abnormal, and the ability to do delicate work is impaired.
- Athetoid: Muscular movements are slow, twisting, and involuntary (beyond the person's control).
- Hypotonic: Muscles are floppy, without firmness.
- Ataxic: Balance and coordination are impaired.
- Dystonic: Any combination of the above symptoms.
- Cerebral palsy is also described according to the parts of the body affected:
- Hemiplegia: One arm and one leg on the same side of the body are involved.
- Diplegia: Both legs are involved; in addition, one or both arms may also be involved.
- Quadriplegia: Both arms and both legs are involved.
Treatment:
Cerebral palsy cannot be cured. However, the physical and other problems it causes can usually be managed through planning and timely care. Treatment plans depend on the type of impairment as well as associated problems the child may have, such as learning disabilities. Many CP patients require the help of physical and occupational therapists only. These professionals help the child learn to deal with loss of muscle control. Other specialists, such as speech-language therapists, special education teachers, nutritionists, and neurosurgeons (nerve specialists) may be needed to help with problems related to CP.

An entry for Syafiah Arissa
This entry is specially for u sayang..So what’s up in the world of Syafiah Arissa thesedays?
One: Your favourite aunty is definitely your Mak Lang Sonia. No doubt she is our new family member but u have taken a great fondness of her in a very short period, dear. She will be the one to feed u food whenever we are back balik kampong in Seremban. You will insist that only her to feed u on any meal. If she is not around, then u will want Kak Siti to feed u. And what happen to your bibik Wati? Suddenly she is not your best buddy whenever we are in Seremban.
Two: Last night I scolded you for playing with the lip gloss that I bought especially for u. I’ve told you to keep it back inside my handbag. But u didn’t as u were so excited to show it to your bibik. So what happen next? U scolded me for scolding you! U had your jari telunjuk kanan pointing at me with your left hand resting at your waist! How am I not to hold my laugh.. I quickly retrieved my laugh in a split second. Sayang! Sayang! How easily for u to imitate us. I know that I used to do that with u.. And I’m trying to lessen it down and also all the other bad habits that I have. ;)
Me : Why are u angry at me?
Arissa : I’m angry because Mama naughty.
Me : Why do u say that mama is naughty?
Arissa : Because u scold me. ( airmata meleleh ni)
Me : Do u know why I scold u, Sayang?
Arissa : ( keeping quiet )
Me : I am angry at you because u were playing with the lipgloss. I don’t want it to be broken. We can’t use the lipgloss dear if it’s broken. U wouldn’t like it if its get broken , wouldn’t u?
Arissa : Yes.
Three: Sharing is caring! Your baba & mama understand that kids around your age doesn’t understand much about the sharing concept. Thus, that is why we are using that tag line with u sayang. Do u know who said it to you ? Its your Kak Shira. Somehow this tag line works with u . When u want something for example a certain food that is not good for u, you will utter this tagline. So smart of u sayang! And we will let u get a small bite .
That all for this entry Sayang. Mama will post more entry next time k..

Our Children's Memory makers
It is the small things that each & one of us do out of our responsibility to our children. And it was also what our parents did for us when we were growing up.It can be such as sending and picking up the children to/from school. Or reading storrybooks before bedtime.Actually it can be anything that we do for our children. No matter how small the act is.
Only after reading that article do I now understand why my mind always remember my mom's special routine during my growing up years. This special routine was actually her memory making for us.
My mom was a primary school teacher. Her teaching period was always in the morning session as she was teaching Standard 1 & 2 pupils. Every weekdays' morning ( before subuh ) without fail, she will get up early to cook the lunch dishes. This things was done regardless we have maid or not. She herself will prepare every single cooking . And mind you, the routine dish was always gulai lemak kuning . Use whatever fishes or vegetables with fresh coconut milk but the dish will always be gulai lemak kuning . It’s my dad favourite dish up to this days.
During those growing up years and while still schooling at non-boarding school, this act was nothing special to me. To me, she was just doing something so that we have food on the table when we get home for lunch from school.
It does sound simple, ain't it? Which made me thinking. There are times when we do complain about things with our children. Maybe we grumble a bit here and there. Or scold them too. And most of the time we didn't realize the impact we have made on our children's memory. It's humane I guess. But just bear in our thoughts of wouldn't it be nice if our children can have good & positive memories to remember throughout their lives?

Not Easy Being a Parent
And yesterday, my hubby posed me : “Is our daughter a hyper active aggressive kid?” He asked because one of the distant cousins is having that disorder. I know he is just a bit worried. So I told him that our child is not having that.
Our girl is one active girl who can stay up just because she wants to play. She is not the type who can sit on the floor at a long period, happily playing with toys. You will see her sitting down for a few minutes, then off running here and there. Another few minutes she will be crawling, pretending she is a cat. Next she will start to rock on the rocking chair or cycling on the tricycle. And there is always something she will say to you. In full expressive way!
So here I am feeling that it is not easy to be a parent. I was able to answer my husband’s question confidently because I have read somewhere about this children disorder. Thus the knowledge is within me. But not on dyslexia. And this just overwhelms me.
I admit that I have came across some articles on dyslexia in many reading materials. But I never gave it a serious thinking about it. Only after I have read about this happening to one of my friends, do I really start to take it seriously.
For our children sake, we as parents really do have to equip ourselves with the necessary knowledge. Just imagine if our child have autism or dyslexia or any disorder or illness that we just didn't notice it! I do know that some or most of us are busy & too caught up with our daily lives . Thus , it's easy not to notice any physical or obvious signs & symptons.
But if we just have that little knowledge inside all of us, I'm sure we will be doing them a very big help. Actually help is not the correct word to use..Cause it's our responsibilities to raise them up to be a good human being.
So count our blessing when our children is sparred from all those things. As for the others, lend them an extra help if can, or even our ears, or even understanding.
In the mean time, it's back to reading. Read and read...

Children toys
Well, this new buying trend wont dies off that easily.. why? Coz brand still plays an important factors in making that final purchases... And most parents outthere still think expensive brands mean good qualities... With expensives brands, most parents dont have to think much about products quality... Thus, no need to put on the thinking cap la!!!! Parents need only to choose which toys to buy .... And I think this is true and happening outthere . If not we wont be seeing this new buying trends in Malaysia...
But then again, at the end of the day, will the child be getting the same amount of experience if he/she were to play with cheap toys than expensive toys? For me, there wont be any major differences as toys will be toys in children eyes... The child will still be getting the same good happy feelings regardless of the prices and brands......
How many times has it happen to us when simple things brought so much joys to our children? Those simple things were actually not toys . They were just some cheap laddle , a strainer or an egg whisk or even a shoe box or even a feather duster...
Maybe that is why my mom can give such comments on Arissa's toys ... Just like any other children, Arissa's has too many toys .... Family members and friends has been so wonderfull to Arissa.. The only things that stand out more when one looks at her toys is the brand of the toys... U will see more cheap local brands rather than expensives brands...
Are we stingy when it comes to buying her toys? Well, no. Quality comes first. Price will come second... And when we dont mind putting our thinking caps when it comes to buying her things... So far she is happy playing with all the toys we bought for her... And it feels nice and warm when u see that toys is played over time and again.... No burnt holes in our pockets too...

Copy Cat
And this Lil Angle will repeat after whatever words we are using. I was in the kicthen washing my hands after dinner one nite when I heard someone calling me Y@ng. My hubby told me then, that Arissa heard him calling me by that name . So Arissa found it amusing that she too wanted to call me by that name.. And I found her smiling when she's saying it.
I have informed my maid to be careful with her words especially infront of Arissa. Just the other day, my maid refered my MIL's chinese neighbour as c!n@. In a matter of 2nds , Arissa who was there with me & my maid, uttered the same word. I quickly told Arissa that is not the right way to refer to that neighbour. Told her to say "uncle" which she went on to repeat it several times... But that vocab of "c!n@" is still in her memory as I heard her saying it yesterday...
When she talks, she will do it with a very strong facial expression. My mom always tells me how she likes seeing the way Arissa talks. The eyes, the head, the hands, all talk when she is talking to you.. Most of the times, u can't help not to be amused by this..
As her vocabs increased tremendously thesedays, the more challenging it is for me & hubby to talk her out from doing or wanting something... Tapi alhamdulillah, she is able to comprehend and understand to what ever we are saying to her so far..
She likes going to the park. Before this,to her any time of the day is a good time to go to the park. But she finally understand that it's not the good time to go to the park when it is a hot day. It will be her telling me " Mama, hot day!. Can not go to park"
All these new development in her makes me eager to know how my next 2nd, 3rd or 4th or 5th child will be. It's a wonderful, exciting, educational and enriching experience watching one child grow from baby to toddler and so forth.

Our First Born
So I wonder. Will this mood or feelings be the same when we have our 2nd child? Like me and like most of parents out there, how I adore my 1st born. You will find me kissing and sniffing my child eventhough she is all sweating , bau machammm! You will find me thinking of can I store my child's unique smell( u may all laugh ok! ) so that I can sniff it again in the next 20 years!
I rarely videotape my child. But when I do, how nice to watch it again and again . Maybe that is why I salute to those parents who are so rajin in snapping photos and videotaping their child's every moves and antics. I dont even have a special album or scrapbook to record and paste pictures of my child's 1st step, 1st word , 1st shoes etc.
So will I be feeling the same thing when I have my 2nd child? I hope and pray , YES! And I will still be taking photos and videotape. But will try harder to make a set of complete album for all my children..
